Church FAQ’s

Where can I read about your school? Click here to jump to “School FAQ’s. Where are you located? TLCS is located near the downtown of Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the corner of 22nd Street and Duff Avenue. For our location on Google Maps, simply click here or on the map in the sidebar. When is church? The Divine Service is celebrated at Trinity every Sunday at 9:00 AM, every Saturday at 5:00 PM, and throughout the year on feast days as announced. Who is the pastor? Trinity is currently in the midst of a pastoral vacancy. During our vacancy and throughout the call process we are being served by the Rev. Marcus J. Baikie, associate pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, one of our sister congregations here in Cheyenne. To contact Pastor Baikie, please use the pastoral contact form or visit the Faculty & Staff Directory. Do you offer Bible studies? Yes. Sunday Bible classes begin at 10:30 AM. The women’s study meets at 10:30 AM on Wednesdays. The men’s study meets at 6:30 AM on Tuesdays. You are also welcome to attend our 2018-2019 Lutheran Inquiry & Adult Instruction class. What do you believe? As a Lutheran congregation Trinity finds her identity in the proclamation of the catholic Christian faith: Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures and was raised to life for our justification. We believe that the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures (i.e. the Old and New Testaments) are inspired and inerrant and that they are the norm for Christian doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Our pastor and congregation have publicly subscribed to the Lutheran Confessions (i.e. the Book of Concord) because they are in complete agreement with the Scriptures and thus express “the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 1:3). In accordance with this one faith the Word of God is preached in its truth and purity at Trinity and the sacraments are rightly administered. For a summary of what we as Lutherans believe, please consult the Small Catechism of Dr. Martin Luther. What is your worship practice? We joyfully retain the Lutheran liturgy at Trinity. The Divine Service and hymns are taken straight from the Lutheran Service Book (2006) with some supplementation from The Lutheran Hymnal (1941). The Lord’s Supper is celebrated every Sunday. Our school has daily chapel services which are open to the public: Matins (the morning prayer office) Monday through Thursday and Vespers (the evening prayer office) on Friday. Do you practice closed communion? Yes. In accordance with apostolic practice, Trinity practices closed communion (cf. “An Explanation of Closed Communion” | Steadfast Lutherans). Visitors who are not members of congregations in fellowship with Trinity are welcome to remain in the pew during the distribution of the Sacrament or come forward for a blessing with arms folded across the chest. The pastor would be glad to speak with you if you have additional questions about our communion practice.
